Sumamed antibiotic: instructions for use for children who often suffer from angina and otitis media

As soon as a child enters an educational institution and begins to contact other children, there comes a period of "exchange" of infections: pneumococci, streptococci, staphylococci, chlamydia, mycoplasmas, hemophilic bacillus, legionella. This is expressed in the appearance of snot of various colors and consistencies, sore throat, pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis. Just in the treatment of ENT organs and respiratory tract, the drug "Sumamed" is used. How to give it to a child, we will consider below.

Azithromycin, which is the main component of this medication, is a strong broad-spectrum antibiotic, available in capsules and injections for adults, in powder for suspension preparation and tablets for children. The peculiarity of this antibiotic is that it quickly penetrates into the blood (after two to three hours), but reaches its maximum concentration in tissue cells and foci of infections. Azithromycin is excreted through the intestines and kidneys after fifty hours, but its effect after the last intake persists for another five to seven days.

The drug "Sumamed": instructions for use

For children, this antibiotic is available in a white or cream-colored powder with a sweet smell resembling a cherry with a banana. A measuring spoon, a syringe with a scale and instructions are included in the cardboard package. Before diluting the medicine, read the instructions and the doctor's appointment.

For example, the doctor writes that you need to give 4.5 ml for three to five days. Then 13.5-22.5 ml of antibiotic is needed for the treatment period. Please note that when diluting a certain amount of suspension, 0.5 ml is added to the "loss" at the dosage, so if you need 13.5 ml, then dilute to 14 ml of the suspension "Sumamed".

Instructions for use (for children, the drug is available in powder) states that the product has a shelf life of three years in tablets, 2 years in powder, and only 5 days in the refrigerator in a diluted state. As soon as you have decided on the dosage, you type warm water into the syringe and pour it into a bottle with powder. Close the lid and shake until the suspension becomes homogeneous. Next, you give the antibiotic in a measuring spoon only once a day. It doesn't matter in the morning or in the evening, but the main thing is that before or after taking the medicine there should be an interval of 1.5-2 hours without snacking.

Medicine "Sumamed" (instructions): for children, dosage in powder and tablets

An antibiotic in powder is prescribed to babies from six months and to children who cannot tolerate or do not know how to swallow pills. The dosage is determined by the doctor, taking into account the severity of the diseases, body weight and age of the child, as well as his individual intolerance to certain medications.

The instructions also indicate the following dosage of the suspension:

• 2.5 ml is divorced for five kg;
• 3 ml is divorced for six kg;
• 3.5 ml is divorced for seven kg;
• 4 ml is divorced for eight kg;
• 4.5 ml is diluted for nine kg;
• 5 ml is diluted for ten kg.

Tablets "Sumamed" (instructions for use) for children with a body weight from 18 to 45 kg (approximate age - 3-12 years) are given according to the scheme:

• 2 tablets are prescribed for 18-30 kg;
• 3 tablets are prescribed for 31-44 kg;
• With 45 kg or more, a dose of 500 mg is recommended for adults.

Please note that treatment with this antibiotic is prescribed to children for no more than 5 days, and in adults the course may last several weeks (it all depends on the disease).

When is the antibiotic "Sumamed" prescribed?

Instructions for use for children and adults describe a number of diseases when you need to take the medicine:

• Respiratory diseases (tonsillitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, bronchitis, pneumonia);
• Otitis media;
• Skin diseases (erythema, pyodermatosis, impetigo, erysipelas);
• Diseases of the duodenum and stomach.

Do not take this drug to people who are sensitive to the components of the drug, with liver and kidney disease, pregnant and lactating. In case of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, temporary hearing loss, call an ambulance, which will wash and prescribe treatment for an overdose of the drug.
